Frequently asked questions.

Do I need to have prior yoga experience?

No. We welcome all levels—from total beginners to advanced practitioners. Our teachers tailor their classes with modifications so everyone can participate comfortably. We also offer assistants at each class to provide hands on support during the classes.

What should I pack?

Packing will vary slightly depending on the season, but here are the essentials to bring for a comfortable and nourishing retreat experience:

  • Comfortable yoga clothing – suitable for movement and relaxation.

  • Clothing for the outdoors – the ashram grounds are walkable and immersed in nature. Dress accordingly.

  • Comfortable, easy-to-remove shoes and socks – most indoor spaces are “shoes off.”

  • Refillable water bottle – stay hydrated throughout your stay.

  • Journal – for reflection and inner exploration.

  • Sun protection – sunscreen, hats, or sunglasses depending on the season.

  • Bug spray – ticks are common in upstate New York and this is essential to reduce risk of Lyme disease.

  • Swimwear – if the season and schedule allow for swimming.

  • Toiletries – all personal hygiene items you may need.

  • Snacks – while all meals and some snacks are provided, feel free to bring extras you enjoy.

We’ll send a season-specific reminder before each retreat to help guide your final packing list.

Are electronics or digital detox encouraged?

We gently encourage guests to unplug and minimize screen time during the retreat to support deeper presence, rest, and connection. However, we understand that everyone has different needs, so there are no strict rules.

The only requirement is that cell phones and electronic devices are not permitted in the temples or meditation roomsto maintain a peaceful, distraction-free space for all.

Feel free to use your devices mindfully elsewhere on the grounds.

How much does it cost and what is included?

We offer a few options depending on your preferred accommodations and availability:

  • Dorm-Style Bunk Room: $650

  • Shared Double Room (only one roommate): $750

  • Saturday Day Pass (August 23): $135

All retreat packages include:

  • Lodging for the duration of the retreat (except Day Pass)
